Immigration Essay Reflection
The goals of this class and project are to improve our writing and reading skills, to prepare us for college writing, and to teach us different writing techniques. For this project we were supposed to write a persuasive essay on a specific topic about immigration, 500-750 words long, and have to cite your sources.
I did my essay about the wall that President Trump wants to build on the US-Mexico border, and why I support it. To write my essay I stated my opinion that it should be built I and supported it with facts and statistic that I cited as footnotes. I learned how to use footnotes, I improved my ability to cite sources, and improved my persuasive writing skills.
Two of the SLOs that I demonstrated in this essay are mastering skills needed in career and college and thinking critically and creatively. My essay demonstrated my success in those two SLOs because I will use persuasive writing in my college to write essays and my career, where I will have to write legal documents and defenses for clients, I also demonstrated that I can think critically and creatively.
The two most important things that I have learned in this class this year are persuasive writing and finding facts and statistics and citing those sources to support my arguments. These skills will help me in the future, they will help me in college to write essays and they will help me in my career as a lawyer when I have to write a defense for a client, or when I have to write any legal documents.

The project required me to write at least 750 words about speaking up, and to provide example of it through the book Speak, through history, and in our own life. The process I went through to do this was to take quotes from the book, and research points in history where people spoke up, I didn’t provide an example from my own life.
